SMOKE ALARMS

Aside from being warm, comfortable, and well-supplied with amenities like water and electricity, you want your home to be safe. It’s the law in Queensland to have a smoke alarm in every bedroom, as well as in each hallway.

Our professional domestic electricians provide reliable, top-quality service, whether you require fittings or repairs. All alarms we install comply fully with current regulations and standards, so you can be certain your home is well-protected.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

Installing new smoke alarms

If you’re having significant renovations at your home or residential property, you’ll need to make sure your smoke alarm setup meets the above legislation. This also applies if you’re leasing or selling a house, or if you own your own property. We’ll fit new alarms as required, quickly, efficiently, and with the least possible disruption to your day.

Diagnosing and fixing smoke alarm faults

Does something keep triggering your smoke alarm? It’s most likely cooking smoke, household dust, or even aerosol spray. Is the test button not working? Your alarm could have been accidentally placed on silent mode, or perhaps the power supply isn’t functioning as it should. Our contractors can investigate the situation, recommend the best solution to the problem, and guarantee fixes on site whenever possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SMOKE ALARMS - DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL SERVICES

Is there a particular type of smoke alarm I need in my home/residential property?

Photoelectric alarms that are wirelessly interconnected are the current law in Queensland.

How can I check if my smoke alarm is working?

The majority of modern smoke alarms come with a “test” button (usually located on the main, circular part of the unit). Hold this button down for several seconds. If the alarm is working properly, it should emit a loud siren-like or beeping sound.

How often should I test my smoke alarm?

At least once a month, to ensure they are always providing protection. Also, you should ideally change the batteries once or twice a year, and have the alarms replaced every 10 years.
